Oorlog is Geen Oplossing NL werd opgericht op 11 februari 2013 in het gebouw van de Tweede Kamer in Den Haag. De groep die zich in O҂O verenigd heeft kwam voor het eerst samen bij een picketline bij het Ministerie van Defensie tegen de uitzending van Nederlandse Patriots naar Turkije. Deze moeten naar wij vrezen als rugdekking dienen voor interventie in Syrië of zelfs oorlog tegen Iran. Maar van Joegoslavië tot Afghanistan, van Irak tot Mali loopt al een spoor van dood en verderf, land na land is te gronde gericht. Onze inzet is dat Nederland zich uit deze geweldsspiraal losmaakt. Het heeft er veel van weg dat díe staten in het Westen die in de crisis aan concurrentievermogen inboeten, hun militaire middelen inzetten om niet verder terrein te verliezen. Hoe meer de economische dynamiek zich naar elders verplaatst—en niet alleen naar de ‘BRICS’—hoe meer oorlog, zo lijkt het. Zelfs Rusland en China komen in het vizier. Oorlog Is Geen Oplossing ziet in deze ontwikkeling een levensgroot gevaar dat dringend moet worden afgewend. Geen sancties, maar dialoog; geen oorlog maar economische samenwerking en verdieping van de contacten tussen de verschillende samenlevingen.

Doelstelling en belongingsbeleid
De stichting heeft ten doel:
a. het bestuderen van geopolitieke processen in hun historische en huidige context;
b. het publiceren over deze onderwerpen;
c. het bevorderen van kennis hierover onder een zo groot mogelijk publiek door middel van alle beschikbare vormen van publiciteit en kennisoverdracht;
d. het stimuleren van brede meningsvorming over deze onderwerpen;
e. het beïnvloeden van politieke besluitvorming en bevorderen van stellingname door het publiek;
f. het volgen, in context zetten en onder de publieke aandacht brengen van actuele politieke ontwikkelingen die een geopolitieke achtergrond hebben;
g. het bieden van een werkomgeving voor personen die zich voor deze doelen willen inzetten;
h. dit alles met het oog op het bevorderen van vrede, veiligheid en gerechtigheid in Europa en daarbuiten en het voorkomen of doen beëindigen van oorlogssituaties.
De stichting heeft geen winstoogmerk.

De bestuursleden ontvangen geen beloning voor hun werkzaamheden. Zij hebben wel recht op vergoeding van de door hen in de uitoefening van hun functie gemaakte kosten.

Kort verslag uitgevoerde activiteiten en plannen voor de toekomst
De stichting Centrum voor Geopolitiek werd vlak vóór het eind van het jaar 2015 opgericht ter ondersteuning van reeds langer lopende activiteiten van het informele samenwerkingsverband "Oorlog is geen Oplossing". Onder deze laatste naam werden sinds het voorjaar van 2013 verschillende protestacties georganiseerd of ondersteund en een opiniërende weblog onderhouden. In de tweede helft van 2015 organiseerde Oorlog is geen Oplossing daarnaast een petitie tegen de verhoging van het Defenstiebudget, die op 10 november 2015 aan de Tweede Kamer werd aangeboden.
In de eerste helft van 2016 werd in het kader van het referendum over het Associatieverdrag met Oekraïne een campagne gevoerd waarin de geopolitieke aspecten van dit verdrag werden benadrukt. Ook naar aanleiding van ontwikkelingen binnen de NAVO zal het Centrum voor Geopolitiek deze geopolitieke aspecten blijven benadrukken in gesprek met politieke partijen, vredesorganisaties en (studenten aan) wetenschappelijke instellingen.
